S&R Benefit/NYC Concert Recommendations 11/30-12/6

If you read this site ever, you know I don't recommend my own gigs very often. DON'T MISS THIS ONE! (Sunday)

Before I get into this week’s picks, I just want to talk about the experience that was the Search & Restore Benefit concert last night. 23 Artists donated their time to create something that was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The music was so full of life and completely in the moment. I cried when Andrew D’Angelo opened the set; I laughed when Matt Wilson mimed along with a drum loop; I moved when Tim Lefebvre and DJ Logic interacted; I stood open-mouthed when Christian McBride and Avishai Cohen played…actually my mouth was open for the better part of two hours. Every single artist came with the intent to make something for the greater good, and everyone in the room (especially the artists) left truly inspired. I am so honored to be a part of this amazing cause and hope you will be a part of it too!

We’ve got 6 days left in the fundraiser for Search & Restore, and the money will be used to show the world amazing things like last night’s performance. We can actually change the perception of jazz and the New York scene forever! Donate at http://helpjazz.com

Rufus Wainwright @ Carnegie Hall
A beautiful voice and classical influences on luscious pop tunes make for a guiltily pleasurable combination. Featuring some premieres and selections from his Judy Garland tribute. 8PM $35-$65
