Spring Recap

Undead Music Fest happens this week!

Just got back from an extended trip to New Orleans and Lafayette. Of course there was great music everywhere and tons of great food (mostly pork based). I sat in at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival with the Red Stick Ramblers, and played a show with their alter-ego band the Revelers that was really great! I contributed to a couple tracks on their forthcoming album that (thanks to a recent successful Kickstarter drive!) will be out within a few months! Heard the mixes while I was down there and every song is a hit! A mix of original and classic Cajun and Swamp Pop tunes. I also got to play a couple gigs with Joel Savoy at Festival International de Louisiane and threw the first ever Search & Restore NOLA festival which was a smashing success!

Just before I went down South I did a fun (albeit intense) recording session for A.C. Newman’s upcoming solo release. Newman is an amazing songwriter that writes incredibly melodic indie rock songs and had the good sense to put horns all over his record! You might know him from his band the New Pornographers. Also laying down keyboards on the record is one of my favorite musicians Marco Benevento, so that was a nice surprise! Look out for that in the fall.

March saw the release of the new self-titled Andrew and Noah Band album – which has been a long time in the making! The A&N Band has been the project I’ve been apart of for about two years now and I’m really excited and proud to have the music finally on record. Sonically it’s really well done thanks to engineering by Will Russell and our Producer/Drummer Dana Billings. We had a huuuuge CD release show in Syracuse and have a bunch of dates this summer including a long-awaited return to New York at the Jalopy Theatre in Brooklyn and a handful of festivals in the Northeast.

Mike & Ruthy‘s NYC EP was also released in April, for which I helped out on one song. It’s an incredible album that really captures the spirit of the group, being recorded analog to tape, and includes a brand new Woody Guthrie song that has never before been recorded or released! Check it out!

Lot’s of stuff to look forward to! In a couple weeks I’ll be guesting with the Great Bear Trio and friends at their Groove festival in Oswego, NY. Last year was an absolute blast! A couple weeks after that I’ll be heading up to New Hampshire for Miles of Music Camp which was my highlight of last year! If you can’t make the week long camp (you should really try) we’ll be kicking it off with a concert at Club Passim in Boston June 8th featuring the entire faculty and more!

Thanks for reading and listening!
